Helenville, Wisconsin
The first owner of the town site, a Mr. Bullwinkle, named this place after himself.
Yup, Bullwinkle.
His wife urged him instead to name the town after her. Like wise husbands everywhere, he heeded her advice and it has henceforth been known as Helenville.
Just south of the Glacial Drumlin State Trail, on Duck Creek Road, is Pohlmann Park. Built on the former site of the Pohlmann family farm, the small county park is a pleasant place for a picnic or lunch break, and to stroll the shady grounds of the old farmstead’s fieldstone walls and pine plantation. Be sure to refill your water bottles here before resuming your trail trek!
